Good news. Android Pay has launched in Singapore, following Samsung Pay and Apple Pay.
For the consumers, it means that if you own any NFC-enabled mobile phones that have the latest Android KitKat 4.40 and above, you can now tap to pay for your purchases. Some of the NFC-enabled mobile phones include Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 4G+, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z5, LG G5 and more. (You can check out the non-exhaustive list here.)
Starting July, some of the retailers will be offering special promotions when you pay with Android Pay:
1. McDonald’s (7 Jul – 3 Aug 16)
$2 off with minimum $6 purchase, Hot beverages from McCafe will be topped with Android cocoa art
2. BreadTalk (1 – 31 Jul 16)
Get $2 off with minimum $3 purchase
WHAT? That’s more than 50% off and you only pay a dollar for your bread and salted egg croissants.
3. Toast Box (1 – 31 Jul 16)
Traditional Kaya Toast or a Golden Lava French Toast + small kopi / teh for only $2
Get a Traditional Kaya Toast or a Golden Lava French Toast + small kopi / teh for only $2 when you pay with Android Pay (1-31 July)
4. Cold Storage, Jasons, MarketPlace
Get a free eco bag when you pay with Android Pay. (from 26 September 2016, while stocks last)
Paying with Android Pay
Launch your Android Pay app. If you do not have it on your device, download here.
Add your Bank’s Credit and Debit Cards by following the onscreen instructions. Your card details can be captured automatically with your device camera or by manual entry.
Once successfully added, you may start to tap and pay with Android Pay!
