Tim Ho Wan was started by Chef Mak Kwai Pui, who formerly worked at the prestigious three Michelin-starred Lung King Heen restaurant in Hong Kong’s Four Seasons Hotel, alongside Chef Leung Fai Keung. In 2009, the two chefs joined forces to open their first 20-seater top dim sum restaurant in Mongkok. A year later, the Tim Ho Wan brand showed no signs of slowing down with more branches opening, with each earning accolades for serving quality food at affordable prices.
Staying true to its brand promise, Tim Ho Wan continues to bring delicious, authentic and affordable Hong Kong dim sum to all diners. Today, customers in Singapore need not journey quite as far to enjoy award-winning Hong Kong-style dim sum in a more modern setting. Renowned for its service and ambience, all while retaining the DNA of traditional Hong Kong dim sum, Tim Ho Wan Singapore has become the go-to restaurant for quality dim sum for locals.
Tim Ho Wan currently has 12 restaurants in Singapore and more than 60+ restaurants worldwide.
ABOUT CHEF MAK KWAI PUI
Chef Mak was born and raised in Hong Kong. Family members in the hospitality industry had greatly influenced him to follow in their footsteps. At a tender age of 15, he began learning the intricate culinary art of dim sum. Following his years at various prominent establishments (including three Michelin-starred Lung King Heen restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel, Hong Kong), Chef Mak began the journey of building the one Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan brand in 2009. A year later, the brand showed no signs of slowing down with more branches opening, each earning accolades for its quality food at affordable prices.
ABOUT CHEF LEUNG FAI KEUNG
Chef Leung co-founded Tim Ho Wan alongside Chef Mak back in March 2009. Both chefs persevered by using only fresh and quality ingredients to prepare their dim sum. The first outlet at Mong Kok was a hole-in-the-wall eatery, which accommodated a small capacity of 20 seats. It quickly won the hearts of the locals with its simple yet irresistible dim sum offerings. This then led to the opening of the second outlet in May 2010.
