In May 1978, IKEA opened their doors to the first IKEA store on 6th Avenue and you opened your homes to LACK, BILLY & POÄNG – just some of the many pieces of flat pack furniture that have since become household names.
Since then, they’ve made beautiful homes a reality for the many through functional and affordable designs – an endeavour that’s still going strong 40 years on.
To celebrate this milestone, they’re throwing the biggest birthday bash ever from 10-13th of May. Stay tuned to this page for more updates!
At IKEA’s Crayfish Party, happening on 18 August, Friday, you’ll be able to enjoy all the crayfish you can eat at your nearest IKEA stores (at Alexandra and Tampines).
Aside from the crayfish, the buffet spread will also include fan favourites like Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, salads, as well as a range of desserts for those with a sweet tooth!
Choose from two timeslots, 5.30pm to 7.30pm OR 8pm to 10pm, to indulge for the night!
The buffet is available for IKEA FAMILY members only, but no worries if you’re not! Sign up for free at IKEA.sg/FAMILY or at any of the in-store kiosks. Tickets are available for purchase at the IKEA Restaurant.

IKEA Furniture Take-Back Initiative
In line with their sustainability objectives, IKEA Singapore will be introducing its pilot trial ‘Take-Back Programme‘, allowing customers an option to exchange their pre-loved fully assembled furniture for IKEA cash vouchers of between $3 and $60 in value.
The programme will take place only at the IKEA Tampines store from 13 July to 6 August 2017 and both IKEA and non-IKEA furniture will be accepted.
The cash vouchers can be used for purchase of home furnishing products at the IKEA Tampines store only, valid until 30 November 2017.
Collected IKEA and non-IKEA furniture will then be assessed and either given to second hand furniture shops, disassembled and recycled in an environmentally responsible way or resold at the AS-IS area for no profit.
