Recreate the popular drink from Xing Fu Tang at home
If you are a big fan of Xing Fu Tang’s Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk, here’s a recipe to try at home.
Indonesian food blogger, Mrs Cuilinary, has shared the Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk recipe on her website and it has been a hit. According to the reviews, it tastes almost similar to the real deal.
Ingredients to make Boba (Servings for 2 people):
- Brown sugar 30gm
- Tapioca flour 50gm
- Water 50ml
Steps to make the Boba dough:
- Brown brown sugar and water with medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved and water boils
- When boiling, turn off the flame and add the flour while stirring until there is no more flour remaining
- Sprinkle and cover the table surface with tapioca flour, then transfer the dough onto it
- Knead the dough (it should be warm) and thoroughly roll into an elongated shape (until stretchable and smooth)
- Shape into a flat dough
- Cut the dough into square shape 1cm x 1cm
- Roll them in between your palms into a round shape
Steps to cook the Boba:
- Add the pearls into boiling water
- Sir to prevent sticking
- After 5 minutes, the Boba should ‘float’. Leave it and cook for additional 15 minutes with occasional stirrings
- There should be a clear layer around the Boba once it is fully cooked
- Off the fire and cover for 15 minutes
- Drain the cooked Boba
Steps to make Brown Sugar syrup:
- Add 150ml water and 50g brown sugar in a pot, dissolve the sugar and bring to boil
- After it has a sticky consistency, add the Boba into the mix
- Final steps: Add 50g brown sugar in a pot, add the brown sugar boba and stir them
Serving instructions:
- Spread the brown sugar syrup at the edge of a cup
- Add boba, ice, fresh milk and heavy cream
- Sprinkle brown sugar on the surface and serve
